The downward-hanging weeping moss, also known as mourning moss, is reminiscent of a weeping willow in its shape. Vesicularia ferriei originally comes from Southeast Asia and can be used both in the foreground as a creeping ground cover and in the middle ground on wood and stones. Over time, the hanging growth becomes very beautiful, reminiscent of the moss beards of the cypress trees in Florida's swamps.

Weeping moss offers a large surface area on which biofilms can settle. Shrimp love to graze on these biofilms and filter bacteria find ideal living conditions here. Weeping moss indirectly improves water quality and offers young shrimp excellent hiding places from predators.

Compared to most other types of moss, weeping moss does not grow very tall, but should be trimmed occasionally. Only the tips are trimmed by about 0.5 to 1 cm to encourage bushy growth. The resulting short moss shoots can be tied back or secured with superglue.

This weeping moss comes from the laboratory and was grown as an in vitro plant free of pollutants and germs. It is guaranteed to contain no pathogens, algae, parasites such as planarians or snails. Before planting, simply rinse off the nutrient gel.
