The Red Taiwan Bee Shrimp ( Caridina cantonensis ), also known as the Red Panda Shrimp , is a beautiful dwarf shrimp with intense red and white color patterns. This breeding form belongs to the Taiwan Bee shrimp and is particularly valued for its bright colors and special markings. It is a highlight in every aquarium and is particularly popular with breeders and lovers of rare shrimp species.

Characteristics:

  • Size : The Red Taiwan Bee shrimp reaches a size of about 2.5 to 3 cm, with females tending to be slightly larger and rounder.
  • Coloration : This shrimp impresses with its strong red and white color fields, which contrast clearly with each other. The red areas shine particularly intensely, while the white markings radiate a noble purity.
  • Behavior : Red Taiwan Bee Shrimp are peaceful, social animals that should be kept in groups. They spend most of their time searching the bottom and plants for food and do well in well-planted aquariums with plenty of hiding places.

Attitude:

  • Aquarium size : A tank with a volume of at least 20 liters is sufficient for a small group. Dense vegetation, moss and hiding places promote the well-being of the shrimp.
  • Water values : These shrimp prefer soft, slightly acidic water with a pH of 5.5 to 6.5 and a temperature between 20 and 24 °C. They are sensitive to fluctuations in water values, so stable conditions and regular water changes are important.
  • Food : The Red Taiwan Bee shrimp feeds on algae, biofilm and detritus. In addition, special shrimp food, as well as plant-based food such as spinach or protein-rich food such as Artemia can be offered.
  • Reproduction : Breeding the Red Taiwan Bee shrimp is possible but challenging. The females carry their eggs for about 30 days before the young shrimp hatch. Optimal water conditions and a balanced diet are crucial for breeding success.

Special features:

The Red Taiwan Bee shrimp is a real eye-catcher with its strong color contrast and is one of the finest dwarf shrimp in the hobby. Due to its sensitivity to water values, it is usually kept by experienced aquarists who enjoy caring for and breeding these impressive shrimp.
