The L401 Hypancistrus ( Hypancistrus sp. "L401" ) is a beautiful, rare L-number catfish from the Rio Negro in Brazil. With its striking black and white striped pattern, reminiscent of the well-known L333, it is one of the most attractive members of its genus.

The L401 remains relatively compact, reaching a final size of around 10–12 cm, and exhibits calm, peaceful behavior. It is primarily crepuscular and prefers to stay in caves and among roots. It is ideally suited for structured, well-flowing aquariums with warm, soft water.

Provide the L401 with several caves and shady hiding places. Good oxygenation, regular water changes, and a gentle current promote health, vibrant colors, and natural behavior.
