The L241 Galaxias Pleco ( Leporacanthicus cf. galaxias ) is an impressive and rare L-number catfish from the Rio Tocantins in Brazil. Its deep black body with countless white spots is reminiscent of a clear starry sky – hence the fitting name "Galaxias Pleco".
This Leporacanthicus catfish is a peaceful yet impressive inhabitant of well-structured aquariums. Reaching a maximum size of approximately 20–22 cm, it remains medium-sized and is distinguished by its robust body shape and strikingly elongated pectoral fins. The L241 is primarily crepuscular and nocturnal, preferring hiding places in caves or under roots.
