The L134 Leopard Frog Pleco ( Peckoltia compta ) is one of the most popular and beautiful L-number catfish from the Rio Tapajós in Brazil. Its contrasting yellow and black markings are reminiscent of a leopard's coat – hence its name "Leopard Frog Pleco". This impressive pattern makes it a true highlight in any South American aquarium.

The L134 remains compact, reaching a final size of approximately 10–12 cm, and is a peaceful, calm L-number catfish, ideally suited for community aquariums. It is crepuscular, prefers to stay in caves, and thrives in soft, slightly acidic water with good oxygenation.

🌿 Characteristics & Attitude:
🐠 Fish size: M/L (5–7 cm)
🌎 Origin: Brazil (Rio Tapajós) – Wild caught
🌡️ Temperature: 26-30°C

🍽️ Feeding:
The Peckoltia compta (L134) is an omnivore with a focus on animal-based food. It accepts frozen and live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, cyclops, and mussel meat, but also food tablets and plant-based supplements like spirulina or vegetable chips. Wood should be present in the aquarium, as it occasionally rasps on it.

💡 Tip:
A structurally rich aquarium with several caves encourages natural behavior. The yellow and black contrasts of the L134 are particularly striking against a dark substrate.

👉 Conclusion:
The L134 Leopard Frog Pleco ( Peckoltia compta ) is a peaceful, intensely colored wild-caught fish with spectacular markings – perfect for lovers of small, attractive Peckoltia species and naturally decorated South American aquariums.
