The Green Jade shrimp ( Neocaridina davidi ) is a striking dwarf shrimp with an intense green coloring that creates a particularly aesthetic effect in aquariums. This color variant is one of the rarer Neocaridina species and brings lively accents to the aquarium with its emerald green shimmer. Like all Neocaridina davidi shrimp, the Green Jade is robust, easy to care for and adaptable.
Characteristics:
- Size : Females can grow up to 3 cm, males are usually slightly smaller.
- Coloration : The Green Jade shrimp impresses with its bright green to jade-colored coloration, which is evenly distributed over its entire body. This intense coloration remains stable and gives every aquarium a natural, fresh look.
- Behavior : These shrimp are very peaceful and sociable. They feel most comfortable in groups and can easily be kept with other peaceful shrimp or small fish.
Attitude:
- Aquarium size : An aquarium of 20 liters or more is sufficient for a small group. Lush planting with hiding places such as moss, roots and stones is recommended to create a safe environment.
- Water values : The Green Jade shrimp is relatively adaptable and thrives at temperatures of 18 to 28°C. A pH value between 6.5 and 8.0 and soft to medium hard water are ideal for keeping them.
- Food : They are omnivorous and feed on algae, food scraps, detritus and special shrimp food. The shrimp contribute to the cleanliness of the aquarium by eating algae and organic material.
- Reproduction : Reproduction is possible without any special measures. Females carry the eggs under their abdomens and after about 30 days the young shrimp hatch and develop independently.
