The easy-care water lily from Sri Lanka belongs to the broad-leaved variant of the popular species Cryptocoryne wendtii . This plant species is characterized by its high variability in appearance and leaf color. Thanks to modern cell propagation techniques, different growth types could be isolated and cultivated as pure varieties. A feature that all variants of C. wendtii share is their uncomplicated care and easy cultivation. The leaves of the variant C. spec. 402 are strong green, sometimes also fascinatingly brownish-flamed, which gives their appearance a special touch.
