**Spiral Water Goblet – Cryptocoryne spiralis 'Red'**
The spiral water lily from southwest India is a very varied species, of which the magnificent varieties 'Red' and 'Tiger' came onto the market a few years ago. These forms are still relatively rare in Europe.
**Cryptocoryne spiralis 'Red':**
This variant develops dark brown-red, ribbon-shaped leaves underwater with a straight to slightly wavy edge. The midrib of the leaves is usually bright green and forms an attractive contrast to the brown-red edge, which has a slight dark marbling. The leaves are narrower and can reach a length of up to 34 cm, although they can grow significantly taller in an aquarium.
**Comparison with Cryptocoryne spiralis 'Tiger':**
In comparison to the 'Tiger' form, which often has no green midrib but has striking dark striping, the 'Red' has a clearly defined green midrib. Both variants offer unique visual characteristics and add variety to any aquarium.
