The Chocolate Sakura shrimp ( Neocaridina davidi ) is an attractive dwarf shrimp that stands out due to its chocolate brown coloring. This particular color variant is very popular among aquarists because it creates an unusual and elegant accent in the aquarium. Like other shrimp of the Neocaridina species, it is robust and easy to care for, which makes it interesting for both beginners and experienced aquarium owners.
Characteristics:
- Size : Females reach a size of up to 3 cm, while males remain slightly smaller.
- Coloration : The Chocolate Sakura shrimp has a deep chocolate brown coloration, which looks particularly elegant compared to other color variants. Its uniform, strong color remains stable throughout its entire life.
- Behavior : These shrimp are peaceful and very sociable. They are active and like to stay in groups, which makes keeping them in a community tank pleasant and uncomplicated.
Attitude:
- Aquarium size : A tank of 20 liters or more is sufficient. Dense planting with moss, roots and stones provides hiding places and increases their well-being.
- Water values : Chocolate Sakura shrimp are adaptable and robust. They feel comfortable at temperatures of 18 to 28°C and prefer a pH value between 6.5 and 8.0 and soft to medium hard water.
- Food : These shrimp are omnivores and feed on algae, leftover food, dead plant parts and special shrimp food. They help keep the aquarium clean by breaking down algae and organic material.
- Reproduction : Reproduction is easy in the aquarium. Females carry the eggs under their abdomens and after about 30 days the young shrimp hatch and are immediately independent.
