The Black Carbon Rili shrimp ( Neocaridina davidi ) is an exceptional dwarf shrimp that impresses with its unique black and transparent coloring. This Rili variant is characterized by a fascinating color gradient in which black and transparent body parts appear alternately. It is easy to care for and robust, which makes it an interesting choice for both beginners and advanced aquarists.
Characteristics:
- Size : Females reach up to 3 cm, males are slightly smaller.
- Coloration : The Black Carbon Rili shrimp shows a fascinating mix of deep black and transparent sections, which makes it a real eye-catcher. Its Rili pattern can vary individually, with the head and rear part of the body usually being black, while the middle area remains transparent.
- Behavior : Like other Neocaridina davidi species, the Black Carbon Rili Shrimp is peaceful, sociable and active. It is well suited to group keeping and can be easily kept with other peaceful shrimp and small fish.
Attitude:
- Aquarium size : A tank of 20 liters or more offers enough space for a small group of these shrimp. Planting with moss, roots and stones is ideal for creating hiding places and a natural habitat.
- Water values : These shrimp are adaptable and robust. They prefer temperatures between 18 and 28°C and a pH value between 6.5 and 8.0. Soft to medium hard water is optimal.
- Food : They feed on algae, detritus, leftover food and special shrimp food. Their ability to eat algae helps keep the aquarium clean.
- Reproduction : Reproduction is easy. The females carry the eggs under their abdomens and after about 30 days the young shrimp hatch and are independent from the start.
