The bearded catfish ( Synodontis eupterus ), also known as the featherfin catfish, is an impressive African wild-caught fish from the Chad and Niger region. Its distinctive feature is the long, feather-like fin rays of its dorsal fin, which give it a majestic appearance. Synodontis eupterus is an omnivore. It readily eats frozen and live foods (Artemia, mosquito larvae, mussel meat) as well as food tablets, granules, and plant-based foods such as spirulina, seaweed wafers, or vegetable chips. A varied diet promotes vitality and color intensity.

Since the bearded catfish is nocturnal, dim lighting or feeding at dusk is recommended. It is particularly lively and social when kept in groups or with other calm species.
