The large knobbed water sapling, also known as Boivin's water sapling (Aponogeton boivinianus), comes from Madagascar and reaches a height of about 65 cm in the aquarium. Its long, bottle-green, heavily knobbed leaves are slightly transparent and set beautiful accents in the background or as a solitary plant.
In nature, Aponogeton boivinianus grows in cool, shady waters that dry out seasonally. During such times, the plant goes into a dormant phase. If it stops growing in the aquarium or retracts its leaves, it also needs a dormant phase of about 4 weeks. During this time, the plant should be stored in a cool, dark place. The tuber can then be put back into the aquarium, where it will soon sprout again.
Here you get a strong tuber that develops quickly in the aquarium. Be careful not to cover the tuber completely with substrate!
