Aegagropila linnaei is a very special aquarium inhabitant. This spherical green algae species is characterized by its velvety surface. In its natural habitat, this form is rather rare, as it usually grows in colonies as a flat cushion.

The characteristic spherical shape is created by gentle wave movements on the bottom.

Due to their extremely slow growth, the algae balls are particularly popular in nano cubes and other small aquariums. In combination with stones and roots, they create very attractive design options.
