The Crested Cream Shrimp ( Neocaridina ) is a fascinating dwarf shrimp that is characterized by its unusual creamy white coloring and striking patterns. This shrimp is a rare variant of the Neocaridina species and attracts attention in any aquarium with its elegant appearance.
Characteristics:
- Size : Like other Neocaridina species, the Crested Cream Shrimp reaches a length of about 2 to 3 cm. Females are often slightly larger and more powerful than the males.
- Coloration : Their unique creamy white appearance sets them apart from other shrimp species. Depending on the individual, coloration can vary, with some specimens having slightly translucent or beige accents that give the shrimp a "crowned" look.
- Behavior : These shrimp are peaceful and sociable. They are ideal for community aquariums and are often found in groups, searching the substrate for food.
Attitude:
- Aquarium size : A tank of at least 20 liters is recommended for the Crested Cream Shrimp. Dense vegetation, roots and stones offer them protection and promote their well-being.
- Water values : These shrimp prefer stable water values with a pH value of 6.5 to 7.5 and a temperature between 20 and 26 °C. Soft to medium hard water provides optimal conditions.
- Food : The Crested Cream Shrimp feeds on algae, biofilm, detritus and special shrimp food. A varied diet contributes to their health and color intensity.
- Reproduction : Reproduction is similar to other Neocaridina species. Females carry their eggs under their abdomen until the young shrimp hatch after about 30 days. Optimal water conditions are important to promote offspring.
Special features:
The Crested Cream shrimp impresses with its rare and noble coloring, which makes it an extraordinary eye-catcher in every aquarium. It is robust and relatively easy to care for, which makes it attractive for both beginners and advanced aquarists. Its unique appearance, combined with its active and peaceful nature, makes it a special asset to any shrimp keeping.
