Bolbitis heudelotii, also known as Congo water fern, is a fascinating aquarium plant with delicate, transparent green leaves that adds an exotic touch to your aquarium.

**Planting and fixing:**
When planting the Congo water fern, the rootstock (rhizome) should be exposed and not buried in the soil to prevent rot. Instead, the plant is placed on roots or stones. In the initial phase, Bolbitis heudelotii can be fixed with nylon cord until the plant grows firmly onto the substrate on its own.

**Growth and reproduction:**
The Congo water fern can reach a height of 15-40 cm and grows slowly but steadily. Propagation is easy by dividing the rhizome, which creates new plants and allows you to easily expand your aquarium.

**Optimal conditions for healthy growth:**
For best growth, Bolbitis heudelotii needs a sufficient supply of CO2, which significantly promotes the growth and health of the plant. It also prefers soft, slightly acidic water in which it can develop its full beauty.

**Easy to care for and decorative:**
Bolbitis heudelotii is ideal for anyone who wants to give their aquarium an exotic flair with an easy-care yet impressive plant.

**Pruning and propagation:**
Because of its slow growth, Bacopa caroliniana does not need to be pruned frequently, but occasional pruning encourages denser branching. The cut shoots can be used as top cuttings, which are simply stuck into the soil to grow new plants.

**Light and nutrient requirements:**
This plant needs a lot of light, but does not have high nutritional requirements and can also be cultivated in aquariums without additional CO2 fertilization. It is also not very picky when it comes to water hardness.

**Versatile use – even outside the water:**
Bacopa caroliniana can also be grown emersed, where it grows creeping and produces purple flowers. This makes it ideal for the transition zone between water and land in paludariums, aquaterrariums, wabi-kusa or plant jars. It can even be planted in the garden pond in summer and may be winter hardy in warmer regions of Germany if the pond is deep enough to avoid it freezing completely.

**An all-rounder for every aquarium:**
Bacopa caroliniana is an adaptable plant that thrives in many aquarium environments and is characterized by its versatility and easy care.
