**Bacopa caroliniana – The versatile Carolina Stonecrop:**
Bacopa caroliniana, also known as Bacopa caroliniana, is a robust and popular aquarium plant that has been valued in the aquarium hobby for many years. It originally comes from North America and is offered here as a cultivated Tropica plant in a pot.

**Appearance and care:**
Bacopa caroliniana grows upright as a stem plant and has small, round, fleshy leaves that are light green and give off a light lemon scent when crushed. In conditions with little nitrate and phosphate, the upper leaves turn bronze to pink. With a height of 30-60 cm, it is ideal for the background of aquariums, but also does well in smaller tanks. The plant grows relatively slowly, tolerates pruning well and looks particularly attractive when planted in groups.

**Pruning and propagation:**
Because of its slow growth, Bacopa caroliniana does not need to be pruned frequently, but occasional pruning encourages denser branching. The cut shoots can be used as top cuttings, which are simply stuck into the soil to grow new plants.

**Light and nutrient requirements:**
This plant needs a lot of light, but does not have high nutritional requirements and can also be cultivated in aquariums without additional CO2 fertilization. It is also not very picky when it comes to water hardness.

**Versatile use – even outside the water:**
Bacopa caroliniana can also be grown emersed, where it grows creeping and produces purple flowers. This makes it ideal for the transition zone between water and land in paludariums, aquaterrariums, wabi-kusa or plant jars. It can even be planted in the garden pond in summer and may be winter hardy in warmer regions of Germany if the pond is deep enough to avoid it freezing completely.

**An all-rounder for every aquarium:**
Bacopa caroliniana is an adaptable plant that thrives in many aquarium environments and is characterized by its versatility and easy care.
